Ornaments of Prestige

The Museo Larco in Lima, Peru, is home to several golden ear adornments that were found in graves belonging to Moche warriors who lived 1,500 years ago. These earrings are gold with inlaid turquoise detailing. Elaborate earrings distinguished elite people in ancient Peru. Some of these ceremonial items were made with turquoise, spondylus shell, and lapis lazuli.
